Update: I'm not sure what happened, but the device started working again, after I had supplied the remote with fresh batteries. disabled and enabled the USB controller for the Ehome Infrared Receiver. disabled and enabled the consumer IR devices under 'HID devices' in device management. I use the remote control to start and stop videos and to adjust the sound volume. How's that possible? And do you have any ideas how I can resolve this? It functioned okay under Windows 8, but when I upgraded my system to Windows 8.1 it didn't respond anymore. I wonder whether it's possible to get my (USB) SMK Ehome Infrared transceiver (which serves to connect my PC to a remote control) to work again.
